Who we are

We work in partnership with owners of Māori land, supporting them to achieve their aspirations for their whenua.  We are an independent, professional trustee organisation providing services to Māori landowners.

We understand Māori land as a taonga tuku iho - a treasure to be passed down - and we work with owners to ensure their whenua is protected, and to build the benefits for the owners now and in the future.

The Māori Trustee organisation is a team of highly committed and experienced people working from six offices around New Zealand.  Our people have a deep knowledge of the land in their region and understand the issues that may face landowners, from keeping up with the latest environmental reports to facilitating finance for development.

The team supports the Māori Trustee who is appointed under the Māori Trustee Act.  The Māori Trustee is Jamie Tuuta. 

We manage:
• 100,000 hectares of Māori land
• 2,000 land blocks
• 95,000 owner accounts
• $81 million in client funds
