Māori Trustee Amendment Act 2009

In 2009, following national consultation hui, the Government passed legislation which underlined the Māori Trustee's independence. This means that from July 1 2009 the Māori Trustee is a corporation sole, separate from government, and independent in its functions.

Under the amended Act, assets will continue to be managed by the Māori Trustee. The Māori Trustee's duties and responsibilities will remain the same, and the services we provide to manage and administer land assets will continue.
